Low water pressure can be a tremendous hassle.
If you live in an older home, like one of the many beautiful heritage homes in London or one of the surrounding historic towns, you may have simply accepted it as a part of your day-to-day life.
But what does it do? Why does it happen? And what can you do about it?
Keep reading. Triton Plumbing + Service has you covered.
What Causes Low Water Pressure?
There are two main causes of low or varying water pressure.
The first is a simple one: having multiple taps open at the same time. If you’ve got your sprinkler running to water your garden, your washing machine running to clean your clothes, and your spouse is having a shower while you’re washing the dishes, you might see a decrease in water pressure. Go ahead and flush your toilet while all this is happening too, and you’ll likely see a further drop.
The second is varying inlet pressure. Over the span of a day, the water pressure of the entire city will change based on the amount of water being consumed at any given time. So if you find your water pressure is lower when you’re having a shower at 7:30 in the morning, the water pressure may decrease.
However, if you happen to have a day off on a Thursday, for example, and sleep in until noon before you get up and have your shower, you may find the water pressure to be higher.
Consequences Of Low Water Pressure
The obvious consequence of low water pressure is, well, low water pressure.
This may mean it takes longer to fill up the bathtub or rinse the shampoo out of your hair, causing an inconvenience. If your water pressure drops on a morning where you’re running behind and need to get to work, for example, you can see how frustrating this could be.
But another, more shocking result, is a dramatic change in water temperature.
When your water pressure drops, it can trigger a temperature change as well. This is why, in some houses, if you flush the toilet while someone is having a shower, it causes the water to turn ice cold nearly instantly – not the nicest way to wake up in the morning.

How To Fix Low Water Pressure
When it comes to low water pressure, there is a solution.
Let Triton Plumbing + Service install a SCALA2 pump in your home. This pump has an integrated sensor which measures the pressure of the water being delivered to your home. It compares the current pressure level with your desired pressure level and increases or decreases the speed of flow as necessary.
The result is consistent water pressure throughout your home, all the time.
Rest assured, when you work with Triton Plumbing + Service, you’ll get a qualified technician who won’t rest until the job is done right.
